Latch is the term used to describe how the baby’s mouth fits over the nipple and breast. It is also known as attachment, or fit and hold. The latch is a very key part of breastfeeding and can affect how much a baby drinks and also a mother’s comfort levels. The latch is unique for each mother and baby, and also each breast.
