Oliver is the number one baby boy name in Australia, a position it has held for 11 years now. While the total number of occurrences in the top ten has reduced overall since 2022, Oliver is still the number one baby name overall with 1,906 occurrences. Demonstrating the strength of this name, the shortened nickname Ollie has now also entered the top 100, debuting at number 84. The top ten baby boy names include the same names as last year, though rankings have shifted slightly. Henry has climbed to number three from five last year. Leo, William, Jack and Luca have moved down the ranks, making way for Theodore, Hudson and Luca. Five new names entered the boys top 100, Miles being the one to make the biggest leap, form 101 to 48. August and Owen were the other two.

What to Know About the Most Popular Baby Girl Names

The top baby girl name has been contested between Isla and Charlotte for a number of years, but Isla is back at number one with 1,249 babies being given the name. Isla has been particularly popular among parents of Gen Alpha, as Isla was in position number 34 in 2010 at the conception of Gen Alpha and made her way to the top ten by 2016. Ever since, she has consistently been hovering at the top. Harper makes another entrance into the top ten, having featured in 2017, 2018 and 2019, while Hazel makes her debut to the top ten. Lily has been a popular girls name for most of the last decade, while Hazel has had residence in the top 100 since 2014 (debuting at #88). Willow, Ella and Grace move out of top ten positions for these entrants. Five new names entered to top 100, Lottie, Cleo, Riley, Kaia and Athena.
