WHY IT'S GREAT

Squeezing this birth comb during contractions may help relieve pain during labor and delivery in three different ways. First, the birth comb teeth are designed to hit acupressure points on your hand when squeezed which releases endorphins. Second, it gives you something to focus on (other than the contractions), and thirdly, it activates the Gate Control theory of pain: the pain from the comb teeth on the hand “gates” the pain of the contractions.

HOW TO USE

Acupressure points are located where your fingers join your palm, and across the middle of your palm (where your ring and middle fingers touch when you make a fist). Place the com in your hand with the comb teeth on either set of acupressure points. Slowly close the palm of your hand, making sure that the teeth of the comb are touching the points and squeeze through each contraction.
