WHY IT'S GREAT

Glass is the most hygienic (because it’s so easy to clean and sterilise) and eco-friendly (because infinitely recyclable, as well as reusable) baby bottle material. BIBS glass bottles are also temperature resistant, thermal shock resistant, lightweight and shatter resistant. They are a smart choice if you are more conscious of plastic toxins or if your baby has already taken to the BIBS Dummies as the bottle teat has been specifically designed to match the pacifier to help avoid nipple confusion. Meaning they are more likely to take to the bottle more easily.

The teats are made in soft, pure rubber latex. Replacements are available in slow, medium and fast flow to be purchased separately. When your baby is ready to move to the next stage, simply swap out teats. Practical and hygienic, the glass withstands freezing, thawing in boiling water, microwave heating and dishwasher cleaning. Since glass resists chemicals and acid degradation, you don’t need to worry about harmful chemicals or microplastics leaking into the milk, and you can be assured the bottle will not change shape over time, discolour or fade. Another great reason to go for glass? Many drinks are still stored in glass bottles because plastic bottles tend to impart various flavours into liquids including breastmilk or infant formula especially when heated. Glass baby bottles do not affect the taste of milk and preserve the natural flavour of infant milk formula or fresh milk expressed through breast pumps.

The flow rate refers to the size of the hole(s) in the nipple, affecting how quickly milk flows into your baby’s mouth. Every child is different, and many factors determine which flow rate suits your child, however, for newborn babies, a slow flow rate is recommended for slowing down bottle-feeding to better mimic breastfeeding, to better control milk intake. Normally, the flow rate changes over time as the baby grows, and the older the baby gets they will prefer a faster flow rate.
