Melbourne brand Minbie is a total rethink of a baby bottle. The Premium PPSU Newborn Kit is designed to support the complex journey of breastfeeding and help guide your baby to take both bottle and breast without refusing either. Julia (mother) and founder of Minbie sought to create a bottle that nurtured and protected the instinctive bond between mum and baby. Made from soft silicone, the teats are a unique stand-out shape. They help replicate a child’s instinctive breastfeeding motion and encourage their little mouths to practise the proper anti-mastitis breastfeeding latch. So you could say that it prevents your baby from being lazy when feeding, advocating for their natural reflex to innately strengthen over time. The teats also have 3-way anti-reflux and anti-colic functionality. Finally, while they may look like glass, they are light and made from transparent Polyphenylsulfone, a high-performing thermoplastic that is more durable (heat, wash, wear etc), meaning they last and last, so you need less of them.

3 Questions to Find a Baby Bottle

Do I need a baby bottle?

If you are planning to bottle feed breastmilk or formula, then absolutely. If you’re planning to exclusively breastfeed, it can be good to have one or two as backup.

What size, what teat?

General each bottle brand has two sizes, a small (about 150ml) for newborns and younger babies, and a large (about 300mL) which they will need around 4-6 months when they start to drink more. Baby bottles have an option of slow, medium or fast flow teats, this references how big the hole in the teat is, and therefore how much milk will flow out. Newborns start with a slow flow, will need medium from about 3 months and fast from about 6 months.

What design is best?

Finding a bottle your baby likes can take some trial and error. If you are transitioning from breastfeeding, there are bottles specifically designed to mimic the breast shape and assist the transition. If your baby likes a certain style of dummy, the bottle with the same teat may be a winner. There are a variety of materials: plastic, silicone or glass, each with their own benefits so it’s about your, and your baby’s preference.

Great bottles. Newborn loves them

Love these bottles, they come with a great range of teats to suit newborns changing needs. I have a few ‘hand me down’ bottles that I compared to the Minbie by actually having a suck on them to see how they all compared in the mouth, and the Minbie certain had a much nicer contour and fit in the mouth compared with other brands. Have also had no trouble going between nipple and these bottles, so no nipple confusion at all.

Amazing bottle, fast shipping!
