There are three kinds of Haakaa Breastfeeding Nipple Shields to choose from.
Breastfeeding Nipple Shield, Round. The teat is an extended baby bottle teat with a physical space to protect your bnipple.. The suction in this shield is favoured by most mums and has the highest level of silicone thickness. This is the best option if your baby is mixed feeding or transitioning to bottle feeding
Breastfeeding Nipple Shield, Orthodontic. The teat is a natural thumb shaped teat with physical space to protect your nipple. Best for babies who have only been breastfed.
Breastfeeding Nipple Shield, Triangle. The teat has a natural shape to help prevent confusion to babies, and comes with a smaller base for increased breathability. It is also thumb shaped and is best for babies who have only been breastfed.
Your lactation consultant or breastfeeding specialist will be able to advise you whether or not nipple shields are appropriate for you, and can also support you with your ongoing breastfeeding needs. Often the hospital where you gave birth have lactation specialists and services to help you, or if you are at home try making an appointment with your Maternal and Childcare Nurse through your council, or of course there is the free counselling service from the Australian Breastfeeding Association.

Have used these now with both my babies and they have meant I have been able to continue breastfeeding.
You may get told these are just for inverted nipples, don’t listen! When I ended up with bad nipple damage I wore these on the damaged side for a couple of days and boom healed! Also stopped the pain during feeding while it healed. Was so glad I had these on hand to save me from unnecessary pain.
I have vasospasm to my left nipple, and this shield has been a life saver. I have no pain when feeding from this…. It is big, but it has worked wonders for me and my baby.
