A swaddle sleep bag is the simplest and safest way to swaddle your baby. It helps to contain startle reflex while keeping your baby snug and securely swaddled throughout the year without the need for complicated wrapping. The two-in-one bag transitions from arms-in swaddling for newborns, to an arms-out sleep bag once they start rolling. There are press stud poppers in the armholes that convert this swaddle into your baby’s first sleeping bag as they grow. Made from breathable natural fibres, the organic cotton material is comfortable and soft on your baby’s skin. The 1.0 TOG Mild Pouch is suitable for room temperatures between 21-24°C.

Okay, here’s the deal. Swaddling your baby for the first few months is where it’s at. The Ergo Pouch Cocoon Swaddle Sleep Bag is the ideal solution to help your baby feel cosy and warm, minimising their startle reflex and calming them into sleep. Ergo Pouch is your ‘hands down’ option. If your baby turns out to be a ‘hands up’ sleeper, head over to the options from Love To Dream. Once you’ve got that sorted, choose a tog. Togs are related to the weight of the material, which you’ll choose based on room temperature.

Sleep bags are a good option versus muslin swaddling because while some people are amazing at it and the midwives make it look SO easy in hospital, most parents struggle at wrapping their baby in muslin, and a lot of babies always seem to escape from it. Ergo Pouch designs are foolproof - one zip. It’s a very clever design with two way zips for easy access to change a nappy in the middle of the night, button clasps at the arms for when it's time to transition your baby's arms out (when they show signs of starting to roll). The design allows the swaddle to be firm and tight, but also allows for your baby to have movement with their arms (it's not a straight jacket), but not so much movement to have their startle reflex wake them.

Fool proof swaddle

An easy and convenient option for swaddling your baby, which is particularly great for middle of the night changes. The cute colourful design is a plus. The only downfall is that it doesn’t keep my baby’s arms firmly in one position, as she is able to move them about inside the swaddle and eventually poke them out through the top.

So much better than traditional swaddling

Great for peace of mind if you have a wriggly baby that can bust out of even the midwives impeccable swaddle wraps.

0.2 TOG was especially great for day naps in the summer months and the material washes well.

So warm and comfy

My newborn sleeps so snug in this swaddle bag. Plus the temperature guide it comes with is so handy for understanding how best to dress your baby for sleep based on the room temp. A good pick up for the start of this Melbourne winter 🥶
