They have access to everything — so what makes the cut?

While we can confidently say that everything on The Memo is useful, clever and brilliant by design, every parent has a different experience, so one person’s can't-live-without is another’s “not for me”. However, there are some products that we can collectively agree just make parenting life better — which is the whole purpose of The Memos — to celebrate those products doing the most.

This year the lineup is predictably epic, with products that have saved many late night tears/sore boobs/ spilt milk (literally and figuratively)/ toddler meltdowns and all the other WTF moments of parenting. You could truly just put all of it on your baby registry and consider it done. But how do you choose the standouts from the standouts? You ask the people who have access to, and have trialled it all to pick favourites, that’s how. So here is what The Memo team is voting for in The Memos this year.

Jessica Prescott & Vaughne Geary: Life After Birth Book

“This book is my go-to gift for new mums. It helps to prepare, support and nourish them through motherhood. I love spoiling my friends with gifts for them as well as for the baby. This book is really for anyone, so grab yourself a copy too.” — Shelby, Visual Merchandiser.

Stokke: Tripp Trapp Chair

“This is the one parent purchase I never shut up about. The cost-per-use is excellent because you have them for seven (yes, SEVEN!) years, they look impossibly chic for a high chair, and they encourage great eating habits from a young age because the kids are part of the dining experience, sitting at the table with you. Also, another unexpected upside: they make a great ergonomic work chair (I’m forever stealing my son’s)” — Sarah, The Notepad Editor.

Bunnie Caddie: Caddie

“This is my go-to gift for any new parent. It’s your portable change station that you can take with you on the go. Keep it at home, leave it in the car or take it away with you, it’s the MVP.” — Breana, Marketing Manager.

Sleepybelly: Pregnancy Pillow

“This is the most comfortable pillow and has been a lifesaver in my last trimester! I was struggling to sleep on my side prior to discovering it. I love that you can configure it in many different ways to suit your body, I just wish I’d bought it earlier!” — Rowena, Head of Digital.

Dreambaby: Bath and Room Thermometer Duck

“Bath time has never been so easy. “Donny” as we call him, has taught my eldest son to know when it is safe to get in the water and the flashing green and red light and clear temperature display lets us know when to put baby in without testing and retesting the temp with an elbow and wrist dip. An absolute must for your nighttime routine.“ — Sarah, Customer Experience.

Jnr Life: Oval Play Mat

“I use ours daily. It’s super plush and comfy for my baby to play on and looks great wherever I roll it out. He grew up on it doing his daily tummy time. When the sun is out, I bring it outside and lay on grass to create a cosy play island, and it’s easy to pack up and down. Bonus points for the colour, it’s a key feature in our home and something that very much feels his. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a really practical, thoughtful gift for a new parent that you want them to get daily use from.” — Phoebe, Co-founder.

Silverette: Silverette

“These were the MVP in my hospital bag. So cooling on red, hot, tender nipples — they work like magic. I wore them for two weeks straight from the moment my baby latched and I barely experienced any pain or discomfort.” — Lou, Creative Director
