3 Questions to Find a Carrier
Do I need it?
Carriers are a great way to keep your baby close but your arms free. They have multiple ways of wearing: baby facing-in (when they’re newborn or sleeping), facing-out (when over 6 months and ready to see the world), back-carry (like a backpack) or hip-carry. Most new parents find the carrier a paventing MVP. Make sure you choose one you like, you’ll be wearing it a lot.
How will I use a carrier?
Coffee run, at home, on hikes, or all of that and more. Carriers have different functionalities, so choose whether it will be just for while they’re newborn, or ‘til they’re a big kid (preschool age).
Does it work for your family?
If you’ll be sharing your carrier with your partner, grandparents and other carers, make sure it’s something that can be adequately adjusted so everyone feels comfortable in it. Some have a greater range than others. Carriers often need to be worn for hours and put on solo, so make sure it’s comfortable, easy to use and gives you a good range of movement.
